Lindsay Hill — doctorally-prepared PMHNP educator and mentor

The Mentor I Wish I'd Had

I'm Lindsay Hill — a doctorally-prepared, board-certified PMHNP, published contributor to Psychiatric Times, past Arizona APNA Chapter President, host of the No Prior Auth podcast, and the founder of the Psych NP Fellowship. I built the program I desperately needed as a new grad.

I Know What It Feels Like

When I graduated from my PMHNP program, I expected to feel ready. I had the degree. I had the certification. I had years of nursing experience behind me. But sitting across from my first patient alone, I felt anything but confident.

I second-guessed every prescribing decision. I spent my evenings researching medication interactions I should have already known. I watched other providers move through their days with what looked like effortless certainty, and I wondered what was wrong with me.

Nothing was wrong with me. And nothing is wrong with you. The truth is that graduate programs do a remarkable job of teaching theory, but they leave a critical gap when it comes to the day-to-day realities of clinical practice.

I built the Psych NP Fellowship because I never want another PMHNP to feel as alone and uncertain as I did in those early years.

Why I Do This

Three principles guide everything we do inside the Fellowship.

Calm Confidence Over Perfection

You don't need to know everything to be a great provider. You need to trust your clinical reasoning, know where to find answers, and feel comfortable saying "let me look into that." We teach you how to practice with calm confidence — not impossible perfection.

Ethical Practice Always

Evidence-based treatment. Thoughtful prescribing. Honest clinical conversations. We believe that doing right by your patients starts with having the knowledge and support to make confident, ethical decisions every single day.

Community Over Competition

Psychiatric care is hard enough without feeling like you're competing with your peers. The Fellowship is built on collaboration, support, and the radical idea that we all get better when we lift each other up.

Lindsay Hill — from new grad to PMHNP educator

From Overwhelmed New Grad to PMHNP Educator

Those uncertain early years became the fuel for everything I've built since. I leaned into my discomfort, sought out mentors, and committed to learning everything I could about being a better clinician.

I earned my Doctorate of Nursing Practice. I became a published contributor to Psychiatric Times. I served as Arizona APNA Chapter President, advocating for better support and education for psychiatric nurse practitioners.

Along the way, I co-founded the Psych NP Network, built the Psych NP Fellowship alongside an expert faculty of PMHNPs and clinical specialists, and launched the No Prior Auth podcast — all driven by the same mission: making sure no new PMHNP has to figure this out alone.

Today, the Fellowship has helped hundreds of PMHNPs build the calm, clinical confidence they were missing. And we're just getting started.

What Fellows Say About Lindsay

The difference in this Fellowship graduate compared to other new grads I've hired was astounding. She came in ready, with her own evaluation templates and clinical knowledge, and I felt a lot safer letting her see patients independently.
